Tips for a smooth Ride
We know that some of you have a bit of a “heart-in-your-throat” moment at the thought of getting into someone else’s car, especially that dull-as-dishwater colleague. You’d rather walk the ten miles home? We hear ya!
That’s why we ask all members to read through WeGo Politely before you give or take a ride. And remember, it’s not us at WeGo who judge how well-mannered you are on your trips. Drivers and riders rate each other after trips, so follow these simple guidelines to get a great rating!
Phone etiquette
As a general rule, a quick call is okay, but full-blown phone conversations are just plain annoying for others in the car. Drivers, remember that it is illegal in california to make a call without a hands-free kit. Be sure to follow all phone and texting laws in your area.
Silence is golden
It might sound like the opposite of “manners”, but we know that not everyone uses WeGo to meet cool new people, and sometimes you just want to get home. So, if being forced to talk for 30-min at the end of a long day doesn’t appeal to you, don’t worry. Read or take a quick nap. (Riders only, please!) It’s fine – don’t feel obligated to talk!
Taboo-versations
If you want to have a smooth ride, we suggest you stay away from sensitive topics like politics, religion, sex, etc. It’s just not a good idea to have heated arguments while going 70 mph!
Smoking & eating
Missed breakfast? Time for your morning smoke? Have your bagel or cigarette before or after your rideshare. Riders, if it were your car, you wouldn’t want to have to clean up after someone else. Drivers, your riders don’t want to get hit in the face with a wall of smoke when they open the door.
Their car, their rules
Riders, please don’t change the radio station, adjust the temperature, or open the windows. After all, it’s not your car! Drivers, remember to be considerate of your riders by keeping the radio volume and temperature at reasonable levels.
Be Clean!
Try to avoid strong smells in the car, like strong perfume and cologne. (Better make sure that stinky gym bag is in the trunk too!) Ladies, please do your hair and makeup at home. Drivers, we know it’s tough, but the tidier your car, the more stars you’ll earn…
